Common Eligibility Test (CET): Good news for youths seeking government jobs in central government ministries, departments and organizations. In the Cabinet meeting of Modi government, the same general eligibility test - CET has been approved for the recruitment of Group B and Group C posts. According to the information received from the Central Government Secretary C Chandramouli, there are more than 20 recruitment agencies of the present and we will gradually conduct all these exams with the passage of Common Eligibility Test in future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the step of the formation of the National Recruitment Agency and the conduct of the general eligibility test by saying that this "National Recruitment Agency will prove to be a boon for crores of youth. It will end many different examinations and this will save time and resources." "This will promote transparency."

After the approval, the general eligibility test is to be conducted from next year i.e. 2021, under this, candidates preparing for government job will not have to apply separately for recruitment in central departments and organizations.
The government has proposed general eligibility test with the objective of providing convenience to the young unemployed preparing for government jobs. Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh had informed on 13 March 2020 that the central government is an autonomous body 'National Recruitment Agency' to streamline the recruitment process for government agencies and 2.5 crore candidates who apply every year. - NRA), which will conduct the Common Eligibility Test i.e. Common Eligibility Test (CET) online.


General Eligibility Test can be held at three levels - Secondary (10th), Senior Secondary (12th) and Graduate. Candidates will be able to appear in these exams as per their merit. Candidates will not have to appear for separate recruitment exams from the general eligibility test. This will also not clash the dates of various recruitment exams. Also, the candidates will have to pay the fee for the same examination instead of paying the fee repeatedly in filling different forms.

The formation of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) for conducting and implementing the General Eligibility Test (CET) was proposed by the Finance Minister during the 2020 budget speech. The Joint Aptitude Test will replace the first level examinations of the Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Board and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.
